This project was taken on by myself and four other students to create a tool inside of Houdini to generate procedural buildings quickly. This tool, utilizing Houdini Engine, could be brought into Unreal Engine or Unity for use with game development. The intention of this project was to serve as a proof of concept for the kind of tool that could be used by independent game developers that may not have access to a team of technical artists or the proprietary software of large game studios for designing 3D environments.

My role on this team was to assist with the development of the tool inside Houdini Engine and implementing Houdini Engine to bridge the tool into Unreal Engine for testing.

One of the most important aspects that my team wanted to demonstrate with this tool was the variety of styles of buildings that you could produce by utilizing your own assets. We implemented this feature as demonstrated in the demo video. Additionally, once the building is finalized in-engine, the assets can be 'baked to actors' inside of Unreal Engine giving the user additional control over the look and style of each building individually.

Two of my team members were responsible for modeling the assets that we used to demonstrate our tool and show the variety of styles of buildings we could produce by loading different assets into the procedural building tool.
